Leatherworking is a Primary Trade Profession in World of Warcraft so it is good to be sure when you are choosing this profession that it is indeed one that you definitely want. This is because, as a Primary Trade Profession, Leatherworking does count toward your limit of Two Primary Professions. Another thing to keep in mind is that if you go with Leatherworking you will also need to have Skinning as your second Primary Profession. This is because Skinning and Leatherworking go hand-in-hand just like Alchemy and Herbalism or Jewelcrafting and Mining. You can always unlearn a profession but that also mean if you ever want to relearn it, then you will be starting completely from scratch as you will lose of the skill points that you earned while using that profession.

When in the 1-40 range some WoW players like to use the strategy of utilizing dual gathering professions to make large amounts of gold. For instance, one might combine Herbalism and Skinning or Mining and Skinning. You will want to decide on a crafting profession such as Leatherworking early on and hold some of the materials necessary for that profession in storage for later use. You would then unlearn the unnecessary gathering profession so that you can learn the appropriate complimentary crafting profession.

When you start out on a new server with World of Warcraft there are a few decisions to make. Most notable is the Player versus Player setting and the Roleplay setting. Look carefully at the server before you make your choice, because the wrong setting can get you killed or banned.

On a PvP server the default state is one of warfare. In a player v player server you are instantly flagged as soon as you enter a contested zone. There are basically three levels here. Green zones will leave you unflagged unless you actively attack a flagged PvP character, Yellow zones are fully contested, with all characters flagged the moment they enter combat, and Red zones are deadly areas where unflagged characters reside, can attack you, but you cannot attack them until they do so(Effectively gauranteeing them first strike).

Enchanting appealed to me as the path of choice when first I played Warcraft. I had visions of mass producing magical equipment and ruling the servers from my gold laden lair. Anyone who has played as an enchanter will know it doesn't work out quite like that. The enchanter profession requires more difficult to gain resources than most of the other classes, and is very time consuming. But the rewards..ahh the rewards..

The first thing you need to know as an enchanter is that you will spend a lot of time gathering magical items. You need these to disenchant. Disenchanting is the first step to enchanting. It destroys the magical item, but creates certain reagents needed to enchant new items. This enchanting can take the form of permanently embuing items with inhanced power, or the creation of oils which creates a temporary increase in the items power(although this increase does stack with permanent effects, making it quite a powerful ability).
