MMO Champion's got the rest of the details on that PC Zone interview we heard about yesterday-- Jeff Kaplan sat down with the French magazine and gave out some new hints about what we'll see up in Northrend in the Wrath of the Lich King expansion.

As we heard at BlizzCon, Northrend isn't all a snow-covered wasteland-- there are forests (including 1 full of Furbolgs) and other terrain sorts to find up there.

We've also heard this prior to, but it's worth repeating again: Arthas will play a much bigger part inside day-to-day Northrend than Illidan did-- lots of men and women, both raiders and casuals, will have a chance to "interact" with him.

Here's something new-- there are going to be two entry points, and previously we'd assumed that a single would be for Horde and another can be for Alliance. But that's not the case-- instead, each and every of the zones (the Borean Tundra and also the Howling Fjord) will have an entry point for each faction. So there will in fact be four techniques into the expansion.

Alliance get to choose a battle within the Howling Fjord or a massive stronghold (complete with a brand new faction leader) and a giant steamship

And Horde either go into the Forsaken's new lands (with new architecture-- we saw it at BlizzCon), or into Garrosh Hellscream's (son of Grom) Warsong Fortress.

Gathering Professions

I will talk about gathering professions first because most of us want to earn gold quickly and they are suited to this.

Mining

Mining has the potential to create a large amount of income quite quickly. The raw ore that you mine is used by Jewelcrafters to prospect for gems. High end ore can command top prices in the auction house. Smelted bars are used by the Blacksmithing and Engineering profession and can earn quick gold.

Most people know where to find the lower end metals such as copper, tin, and iron so I will not bore you with that. The real money lies in mithril and above.

Mithril/Truesilver

Deposits may be found in Alterac Mountains, Arathi Highlands, Azshara, Badlands, Blasted Lands, Burning Steppes, Dustwallow Marsh, Eastern Plaguelands, Felwood, Feralas, Hillsbrad Foothills, Searing Gorge, Silithus, Stonetalon Mountains, Stranglethorn Vale, Swamp of Sorrows, Tanaris, The Hinterlands, Thousand Needles, Western Plaguelands, and Winterspring.

Talent points can be earned once a character has reached the tenth level. These talent points are earned at one point per level. While every character has a list of racial talents, every class has three lines of talents.

Talent points can be spent at the talents window to purchase talents. These talents enable characters / classes improve their abilities, and to acquire new special abilities.

Because it is impossible for a character to purchase every talent, it is important to choose talents that will help your characters to overcome challenges imposed by your opponents. This means that even through you and your opponents have the same class of characters, their talents can be completely different.

As a prerequisite for those characters higher than tier one, acquiring certain skills is not as easy as applying one talent point to its corresponding skill tree. When activating a talent on the second tier, it may be necessary to assign 5 talent points in the top tier in order to activate that talent. Once a talent has been chosen, it cannot be removed unless a trip is made to the class trainer to pay a fee. This will allow your character to unlearn talents.

Tip 4: Mobs: Certain types of mobs tend to have better drops than others, specifically humanoid mobs. Try to take down as many of these as you can when traveling the lands or on a quest.

Remember: Carry plenty of bags and pickup everything. When you get back to a town, sell everything you don't need and watch your money grow.

Arenas are fought 2vs2, 3vs3 or 5vs5. You will have to create or join a team to play in rated arena battles. In your team, you can have twice as many players as you are in the arena. The warrior’s mortal strike decreases healing on a target with 50%. If you don’t have a mortal strike warrior, you might have a problem with the target getting too much healing compared to the damage your team deals.

When creating a team, you have to choose the team’s name and flag design. When designing the flag, you can choose the logo, the border style and the color of the background, border and icon. The name and the flag will be your team’s ID.

The Arenas

There are three arenas currently in the game:

• The Ring of Trials (Nagrand Arena): Circle shaped arena with large pillars that you can hide behind to be out of line of sight. The Arena is located in Nagrand, south of Garadar, and it used to be an ancient orcish proving ground. One minute in the match, a cyclone appears and adds some spin to the fight. After 90 seconds, two shadow crystals appear that let you see stealthed and invisible units, but it also deals some damage to you. Nothing special about this arena. You should hide behind a pillar till you see what the other team has so you can decide on whom to attack first.

• The Circle of Blood (Blade’s Edge Arena): Square shaped arena with heights and a bridge across them. Its location is in Blade’s Edge, north of Thunderlord Village, and it used to be a place where ogres fought. After 90 seconds, two shadow crystals appear that let you see stealthed and invisible units, but it also deals some damage to you. The key to winning this is to become the lord of the bridge. If you let the other team get to one of the two pillars you will have a problem with them able to damage you without you being able to do anything to them.

• Ruins of Lordaeron: Plain arena with an undead theme. Not much to hide behind except a large tomb in the middle of the arena. It is located in Tirisfal Glades.

Arena Points

Once a week, the teams will receive arena points based on their arena rating. However, there are certain requirements to be able to get the points. Each week, the team has to played at least ten matches to get arena points. Only team members who have played in at least 30% of the team’s matches will receive points. Blizzard uses the following formula to calculate arena points:

Team Rating to Arena Point Formula

X = Team Rating, Y = Arena Points, Z = Team size (2, 3 or 5)

If X>1500: Y = (2894/(1+259*e^(-0.0025*X)))*((10*Z+50)/100)
Else: Y = (0.206*X+99)*((10*Z+50)/100)
